Past positions

2013–2016 - Post-doc, Departamento de Botanica, Universidade Estadual Paulista UNESP, Rio Claro, Brazil

2010-2013 - Post-doc, Instituto de Botanica, Sao Paulo, Brazil

I am an evolutionary biologist with experience im multidisciplinary approaches, ranging from fieldwork in diverse tropical environments to molecular-based laboratory and analytical techniques. My research is focused on the origin and evolution of plant diversity in Neotropical domains. Evolutionary mechanisms such as plant hybridization, introgression, selection for divergent habiats, reproductive biology are investigated in order to understand the mechanisms underlying plant speciation

Thiago Ribeiro de Castro

Degree in Biological Sciences at the Biosciences Institute of Rio Claro - UNESP, where he studied frugivory and seed dispersal of a palm tree (Euterpe edulis) in forest fragments. Now I am developing my master thesis in the postgraduate program in Plant Biology at the same institute. My study is focusing how the forest formations responded to climate changes at the Pleistocene using phylogeographic tools to study the populations’s diversity of epiphytic cactus (Lepismium cruciforme).

Ana Luiza Freitas Oliveira

I am currently doing my PhD at Universidade Estadual Paulista, UNESP in Rio Claro. My study is focused in taxonomy of Melastomataceae with emphasis on Melastomaeae tribe, specifically the genus Tibouchina. A phylogeny for this genus and a morphological analysis of tricomes are included in this study.

Tiago Manuel Zanfra de Melo e Gouveia

Tiago did his Masters in Biodiversidade e Meio Ambiente at the Instituto de Botanica in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Tiago is broadly interested in evolutionary biology, focused in the evolution of reproductive barriers in plant species. Specifically, Tiago was studying the evolution of reproductive barriers between Epidendrum secundum and E. xanthinum in the sympatric population at Nova Friburgo, Brazil.
